On July 7th, 2026, Ariela Di Gioacchino, President of the World Union of Jewish Students (WUJS), together with Shilat Cohen, WUJS Executive Director and NUIS Director of External Relations, joined a delegation of the National Union of Israeli Students, comprising student union leaders from across Israel, at the residence of President Isaac Herzog for a conversation on the younger generation and the future of Israeli society.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the National Union of Israeli Students (NUIS) for the invitation, and for the enduring partnership between our two organizations that made this occasion possible.
The message conveyed was unequivocal. Young people have shown, consistently, that they are prepared to assume responsibility, to serve their communities, and to take an active part in shaping the societies to which they belong, even as they contend with considerable pressures in their daily lives.
For us, a gathering of this kind also reflects a wider commitment: ensuring that the voices of young Jews, both in Israel and throughout the Diaspora, are heard and included in the decisions that will define our shared future. The bond between Israel and Jewish communities worldwide cannot be sustained on its own. It depends upon honest dialogue and genuine partnership between the next generation of leaders on both sides.
We thank President Isaac Herzog and First Lady Michal Herzog for their gracious welcome and for the thoughtful, open exchange facilitated through the “Exchanging a Word” initiative.
We look forward to continuing this conversation, to strengthening the role of young people in shaping Israel’s future, and to deepening the ties between Israel and the Jewish Diaspora.
