On March 25, 2026, WUJS hosted the first episode of its new "WUJS Talks" series, titled "Breaking the Cycle of Hate: From Radicalisation to Hope", in partnership with Parents4Peace, an organisation working on extremism prevention and intervention. The online session brought together over 25 students from different regions for a powerful and honest conversation around radicalisation, its impact, and the possibility of change. The event featured Arno Michaelis, a former white supremacist who has since become an activist for peace and prevention, and Mubin Shaikh, a former Islamist extremist who now works in counter extremism and deradicalisation. Drawing from their lived experiences, they offered a rare and direct perspective on how radicalisation develops, what allows individuals to disengage, and the challenges of rebuilding their lives afterwards. The session was moderated by Edgar Santos, member of the WUJS Board, and created space for participants to reflect, ask questions, and engage with a topic that is often difficult but deeply relevant in today’s context.
