The Dutch Union of Jewish Students (IJAR) has officially joined the the Executive Board of WUJS with a 2/3 co-option by the Executive. The Executive board is comprised of Presidents or International representatives of the biggest member unions of WUJS: Australasia (AUJS), Europe (EUJS), France (UEJF), Israel (NUIS), South Africa (SAUJS), United Kingdom (UJS). During the 2014 General Assembly Chile (FEJ) and Ukraine (UUJS) were elected Rotational Members for two a period of years. Today the Executive board co-opted IJAR for a mandate of two years until 2016 January.
IJAR is the Jewish student union of the Netherlands. Founded in 1976 it is the oldest Jewish student union in Holland. After a period of inactivity, IJAR recently reestablished its activities by a new and motivated group of young people, headed by Jonathan Keyson, President of the union.
IJAR holds monthly events for Jewish students, at least ones a year, IJAR organizes a big party for Jewish students, known as: ‘Jewalicious’. This party is held in an exclusive club in Amsterdam. Besides the organisation of parties and other events, IJAR hosts every winter SKIJAR; an amazing week of winter sports in the Alps for Jewish students.
Andi Gergely, WUJS President welcomed IJAR to the Executive board and wished them a successful two year term. Andi looks forward to working closely with IJAR and introducing more Dutch students to global Jewish student advocacy.
