International Women's Day (IWD) is celebrated on March 8 every year. In different regions the focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebration of respect, appreciation, and love towards women to a celebration for women's economic, political, and social achievements. It is also an important day for campaigning to break down the barriers that in 2016 are still in the way of many women.
Worldwide, women continue to contribute to social, economic, cultural and political achievement and have much to celebrate today. But progress towards gender parity has slowed in many places. The World Economic Forum predicted in 2014 that it would take until 2095 to achieve global gender parity. Then one year later in 2015, they estimated that a slowdown in the already glacial pace of progress meant the gender gap wouldn't close entirely until 2133.
We at WUJS are seeking a group of inspiring women Jewish student activists to develop an online global campaign for this years IWD! Would you like to take part? Fill in your details below by Monday 22nd February!
