Orientation Week / O week / Freshers /Tabling
Events like these allow you to set the atmosphere for the entire year. A great start to the year will not only encourage students to join, but it will inline your existing members to feel positively about their affiliation.
First year students/freshers/juniors are always the first to sign up. They are generally overwhelmed by the options available to them and find comfort in seeing other Jewish students.
However it is important not to forget for example, those ex Jewish Day school students who think that Jewish stuff is the last thing they want. It is also important not to forget older students who might be complacent about signing up for another year. A student has to feel that it’s worth it for them to join.
How do you get people to join?
Make your stall / table attractive. Balloons, poster
Try to remember the names of people who join up. People like to feel that they have been noticed.
